At first glance, the Samsung X900 looks like many other Samsung clamshells, combining stylish good looks in a compact handset.

But look closer, and you can see the X900's twin speakers built into the side. The X900 isn't just a phone - it's a mini jukebox!

The Samsung X900 features a whopping 128Mb of internal memory and can play back MP3 and AAC audio files - at typical compression rates, that's up to two CD's worth of music!

And this is a fully featured phone too, featuring a large 176x192 pixel display is 262,000 colours on the inside, and a small colour display on the outside. The Samsung X900 has a VGA resolution digital camera for taking snaps too.

The X900 is a tri-band GSM phone supporting GPRS data, with a WAP 2.0 browser. It supports MMS (multimedia messaging), polyphonic ringtones and Java for games and other applications.

For all it's features, the Samsung X900 is remarkably compact, measuring just 90x46x24 mm and weighing 90 grams.

It's stylish, fun and a great little music player. The X900 is available in the second half of 2004. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

The Samsung D710 is a compact Symbian based Smartphone with an integrated one megapixel camera.

With its large 176x208 pixel display in 65,000 colours, organising contacts and information is easy with the D710.

The D710 is an unusual phone - it looks like a PDA, until the keypad slides out from underneath, and Samsung's engineers have managed to fit all of this into a compact PDA style device measuring just 101x51x24 mm and weighing 110 grams.

The camera on the Samsung D710 is not only much higher resolution than most of its competitors, but it has a macro function, a flash and can also be used to record video clips.

Both video clips and MP3 audio can be played back and stored on the D710's interchangeable MMC memory cards. Because it's a Smartphone, there are a range of Symbian based applications available, and Java support means that there's a good range of games and other more serious applications.

The Samsung D710 connects to a PC for data transfer with either a USB cable or infra-red. In network terms, this is a tri-band GSM device that supports GPRS. There's full access to a range of Symbian based applications on the D710 too, such as a web browser and email client.

Expected to be available sometime in Q3 2004.
